LEAVENWORTH OKTOBERFEST ANNOUNCES 2024 BEER LINEUP AND NEW CASHLESS PAYMENT SYSTEM INTENDED TO EXPEDITE WAIT TIMES IN QUEUES
Official Beer Menu includes notable Oktoberfest breweries from Munich among the German imports, plus local brews, N/A beer, local wines, kombucha, and cider
(LEAVENWORTH, Wash.) — The annual Leavenworth Oktoberfest celebration is right around the corner, but thanks to the event’s new cashless wristband payment system, the lines won’t be. The new system will ensure that the line to purchase any of the 10 German imports and local brews on tap won’t stretch around the block.
Recently named one of the country’s top 13 outdoor festivals by Outside Magazine, Oktoberfest returns to Leavenworth Oct. 4-5, 11-12, & 18-19. Once again, the festival’s guest of honor — beer — is highlighted by a selection of imported and domestic offerings including five German and five local brews, plus a German non-alcoholic brew, local wines, hard kombucha, and hard cider.
Among the German highlights is a Paulaner Oktoberfest Marzen, a style that is more than 200 years old, and the No. 1 rated Hefeweizen in the world from the oldest brewery in the world (Weihenstephaner Hefe Weissbier). Among local beers, the Leavenworth Festbier — a collaboration between Icicle Brewing, Blewett Brewing, and Doghaus Brewery — once again takes center stage.
“Our local breweries have done another masterful job of capturing Oktoberfest in a keg with their collaboration Festbier, not to mention the other seasonal brews they’ll have on tap throughout the month,” said Troy Campbell, Executive Director of the Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce. “When you layer in a handful of the world’s oldest and most respected German breweries, there’s even more cause for celebration.”
New for 2024, the Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce is introducing a commemorative smartcard wristband payment system that’s designed to minimize wait times, streamline transactions, and reduce waste. Oktoberfest-goers can pre-register online, after which the commemorative smartcard fabric wristband offers tap and pay purchases for a cashless event. Attendees will also have the option to pay via credit/debit or mobile tap/pay app.
“We’re constantly looking for ways to incorporate guest feedback and improve the visitor experience, and wait times have historically been a pain point that we believe will be greatly reduced with the new wristband payment system,” said Ernest Palmer, Director of Events & Entertainment for the Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce. “Oktoberfest has been working toward being a zero-waste event since 2022, and this offering brings us one step closer to meeting the goals of our Destination Smart sustainable tourism management framework.”
Festival-goers will enjoy more vendors, food, and beer, as well as a larger “Kinderplatz” area complete with a 62-foot Ferris wheel, root beer garden, and lots of free games. Also new this year will be an area in the beer garden where adults can have a beer and enjoy lawn and leisure games.
To save time and hassle, Oktoberfest-goers can purchase tickets, wristbands, and official festival merchandise in advance, and view the beer, entertainment, and activity offerings on the official Leavenworth Oktoberfest website at www.leavenworth.org/oktoberfest.
Grab your best Trachten (traditional Bavarian garments) and attend Oktoberfest in Leavenworth. Prost!
