Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce Partners with Waste Loop to Support Local Glass Recycling

In March, the Leavenworth Chamber announced our Destination Smart approach to sustainable tourism by sharing our five principals:

• Funding it Forward

• Visitor Flow Management

• Communication & Monitoring

• Destination Development

• Climate & Resiliency

Today we are pleased to announce that to achieve our Climate & Resiliency goals for 2024, the Chamber has partnered with Waste Loop to assist in funding their glass recycling program for the remainder of the year. 

Currently, Waste Loop funds a private hauler to take the glass trailer to Strategic Materials in Seattle where it is processed and then made into new bottles by Ardagh, a business just down the road from Strategic Materials making for a near perfect clean circular economy.  

Through our support, we are pleased to assist in helping Waste Loop achieve their goals by expanding glass recycling for our businesses and to offer pickup services in the future. And don't forget, glass recycling is available to all community members regardless of residence!
